Postgraduate Studentships in the Blight Group.
Supervisor: Dr. Barry Blight
Highly motivated and ambitious candidates are invited to apply for TWO funded PhD or MSc Studentship in the Blight Group in the Department of Chemistry at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). The intended start date is May 2020 or Sept 2020. The work will include aspects of organic synthesis, metal ligand coordination chemistry, catalysis, and /or new metal-organic framework materials aimed at biological applications focusing on new functional materials. Candidates should have experience with a research lab environment, 1H NMR, PXRD, and some chromatography knowledge. The research will be carried out at UNB in Fredericton NB, Canada, a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment.
Projects of interest include:
MOFs for small molecule uptake
MOFs for biological applications
Hydrogen bonding with metal complexes towards new materials
Photoredox catalysis
Eligibility, Equity & Diversity, Funding:
Candidates will need to hold BSc with a B average or higher in a relevant discipline (chemistry, materials, etc.). As noted above, experience in a related field will be essential. Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada who apply will be given priority, however we will accept international applications for consideration.
